de_aztec adjusted for competitive use. Features rebalanced travel times, greatly enhanced player visibility, a lack of unfair camping spots, and removal of fog, background sounds and excessive color noise.


Changes include:

  • Recolored and retextured entire map for faster and easier player recognition.
  • Moved T-Spawns closer to center.
  • Lowered CT Spawn area slightly to remove a shortcut. These two changes make sure the teams run into each other in a balanced environment instead of giving CTs the advantage.
  • Removed fog.
  • Recolored all double doors. They no longer camouflage player models.
  • Moved and edited cover cluster outside T double doors: Players are no longer able to peek over it with just their head.
  • Removed column blocking LoS from T double doors to B double doors to make combat more straightforward.
  • Removed generator from B because it was a frustrating camping spot.
  • Resized B bomb plant area to disallow easy plants.
  • Edited textures and geometry on B site to allow easier player recognition both from T double doors and the underpass area.
  • Added crates behind B double doors to reduce the amount of camping positions.
  • Added passage connecting B hallways and CT sniper square to make B more accessible.
  • Removed most cover from CT spawn to reduce amount of camping positions.
  • Reshaped temple at CT spawn to make a certain camping spot less advantageous.
  • Removed plant at A ledge. Players could hide inside.
  • Removed crate-and-plant camping spot on A site. This position was wholly unfair.
  • Added crate cluster instead to make up for aforementioned spots removal.
  • Moved stone crate cluster on A, allowing players to hide behind it.
  • Resized bomb plant area at A to disallow easy plants.
  • Disabled wood beam collision between A and CT sniper square to prevent grenades from bouncing off.
  • Recolored walls at CT sniper square to allow better player recognition.
  • Removed plant and mud hill at CT sniper square because players could hide inside it.
  • Replaced aztec statues with crates to make combat more straightforward.
  • Relocated and added cover between CT sniper square and T double doors to make snipers slightly less powerful.
  • Brightened up and retextured CT bridge house to allow easier player recognition.
  • Relocated cover in CT bridge house to make camping slightly harder.
  • Disabled grenade collision on bridge.
  • Brightened up T bridge house for easier player recognition.
  • Edited cover in T bridge house to allow easier grenade over it.
  • Disabled collision on wood beams in bridge area to prevent them from blocking grenades.
  • Edited underpass area textures to make player recognition much easier.
  • Added scaffold connecting underpass area with bridge to make the underpass less of a dead end.
  • Added cover and wall indentations to underpass to allow Ts easier approaches against B from underpass.
  • Added hanging vines to ramp and stair areas at the underpass to block a few CT view angles against Ts in the underpass.
  • Relocated water in the entire underpass to make accidentally landing on ground impossible.
  • Relocated water in the underpass to allow sneaking Ts to switch sides in the underpass without touching the water.
